Ultimate Direction Ambassador Leor Pantilat will share tips and stories from his experiences during backcountry runs including his FKT's of the John Muir Trail, the High Sierra Trail, and the Rae Lakes Loop. Whether you're looking to explore remote backcountry terrain this summer or venture further beyond your local trails, this presentation will provide practical tips through first-hand accounts from the mountains. Prepare to be inspired!
Join us on Thursday, May 12th for a free showing of Matt Trappe's Kissing the Rock, an incredible film highlighting the history, the difficulty and everything else that is unique about the Hardrock 100 Mile Endurance Run.
The film will start at 7pm sharp. Feel free to come anytime after close (6pm) for refreshments prior to the showing. And as always,bring your own chair to guarantee a seat. (Don't fret, we do have plenty on hand).
Following the ~25 minute film, we will have a Q&A with the filmmaker, Matt Trappe.

Join us Thursday, April 7 for a special evening with our friend Jason Koop, Director of Coaching at Carmichael Training Systems. Jason will be discussing his about-to-be-released book Training Essentials for Ultrarunning. We will have advanced copies of the book for sale at the event that you can have autographed!
Itinerary for the evening:
6:00pm-6:45pm: Pre-Lake Sonoma 50 shakeout run with Jason Koop! We will also have demo shoes available from our friends at Nike Trail Running. This will be a casual, social run suitable for all abilities.
7:00pm: Jason Koop Presentation based off of his new book Training Essentials for Ultrarunning
7:30pm: Book signing and social hour for everyone at the event
Koop coaches many of the top ultrarunners in the USA, including locals Dylan Bowman, Alex Varner, Fernando De Samaniego Steta, and Larisa Elaine Dannis. Additionally he coaches professional ultrarunners Timothy Olson, Kaci Lickteig, Dakota Jones, and coached Dean Karnazes during his 50/50/50 and trans-USA runs.
The presentation will be an entertaining, high-level discussion of many of the topics covered in Training Essentials for Ultrarunning, including:
•The science behind ultramarathon performance
•How to use interval training to focus workouts, make gains, reduce injuries, and race faster
•Simple, effective fueling and hydration strategies
•The A.D.A.P.T. method for making the right decisions to solve a race-day crisis
•How to plan your ultra season for better racing

Hang out after enjoying beverages by Headlands Brewing Company and spend time socializing with everyone. UltraRunning Magazine will be providing copies of their current issue with David Laney on the cover (2015 Ultrarunner of the Year).

The long route is typically 13-15 with some good climbs, and there is always a group running the 7 mile beach-and-back route. Maps of the recommended long route are provided morning-of, and we are more than happy to suggest alternate routes depending on the distance you are looking to run.

Join us Thursday, March 19 at 7pm for the premier of Trail Fighter, a short film by T.C. Worley chronicling Kyle Dietz and his transition from being a professional MMA fighter to mountain runner. After Trail Fighter and the Q&A we will air the 1985 ABC Wide World of Sports broadcast of the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. Yes.. this exists!
We, along with our friends from the Impala Racing Team are kindly asking for a $5 donation at the door. 100% of the proceeds will directly benefit the team's Mighty Milers Program, working with 40 underprivileged middle school girls from San Francisco to get them involved in fitness and running.

Join us 3/14 for our weekly Saturday morning run. In honor of 3.14 AKA "Pi Day", Pearl Izumi will be joining us with free footwear demos of the Trail N2 and M2 models, both of which we stock at SFRC. After the run, we will have pie (very helpful in runner recovery, we are told...).
The group run leaves at 8am from the store for 13-16 miles out on the trails and we are more than happy to suggest routes that are shorter or longer and maps will be available for anyone that needs one. For those of you running in the Marin Ultra Challenge, hopefully our paths will cross that morning. Happy Pi(e) Day!

Join us Saturday, February 14 at 8am for our weekly run and try out Nike's newest trail shoes the Kiger 2 and Wildhorse 2! The event and the run are always free, and our friends at Nike will be sponsoring post-run refreshments as well as some seriously cool gift-with-purchase swag.
This is a great opportunity to try out the Kiger 2 or Wildhorse 2 if you have not had an opportunity to run in them yet.
We will leave at 8am for 13-15 miles, come a few minutes early to grab a pair of demo shoes. The run is inclusive and naturally breaks up into various paced groups. You are also welcome to go shorter or longer depending on your desired distance.
Please park in the center behind our store (the closed-down grocery store) so that customers of the other businesses in our center can get in and out. It is a 30 second walk to our store. PLEASE! :)

Join us Saturday, January 31st at 8am for our big Saturday morning run and celebrate the SFRC 2 year anniversary with us!
We will leave from the store at 8am for a 13-15 mile route. There are options to go shorter or longer and we are happy to recommend routes even if you just want to try out Hoka shoes for 3-5 miles. The runners break up into various pace groups, this is not a no-drop run but it is very inclusive.
Hoka OneOne will be here with demo shoes, this will be a great opportunity to try out Hoka shoes for free especially if you have not run in them or are interested in trying a new model. We have the new Bondi 4 and Constant in stock along with the Stinson ATR, Mafate Speed, Clifton, Huaka, and other models. We also have a few remaining pairs of prior models on closeout for up to 50% off (limited to stock on hand).
Members of the Hoka OneOne Racing Team (including SFRC GM Jorge Maravilla) will be here to join us on the run as well!

We are super excited to welcome our friends Scott Jurek and Krissy Moehl to the Bay Area and SFRC for a group run and presentation "Preventing and Managing Injuries for the Long Run" presented by Pro-Tec Athletics!
Scott and Krissy will lead a shakeout run from SFRC at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 6, followed by an insightful presentation "Preventing and Managing Injuries for the Long Run" beginning at 7:15 back at SFRC. Our friends from Pro-Tec will have demos and crowd prizes, and our friends Clif Bar and Flora will also be here with snacks and samples for everyone in attendance.
From their combined 35 years of running ultramarathons, Scott and Krissy will cover their top tips for preventing and managing injuries, along with recommendations on how to manage five of the most common running injuries.
This will be a completely jam-packed event. Bring a camping/folding chair to ensure a seat.
Krissy Moehl will also lead out our Saturday morning run at 8am on November 8 and we will have samples from Clif Bar and Flora that morning as well.
